One of the most important things I learned this year is how to pick my battles.
Throughout life, you will meet all kinds of people, many of whom won’t share all your beliefs. And while your beliefs are central to your identity, not every single one of them is worth losing a friend, or sleep, over. The key is compromise. Being accommodative of other people’s ideas, even when they don’t align with yours.
And when you finally find that sweet spot – where you don’t respond with anger when someone says something you find outrageous – you have found peace.
